The Wedding

We are delighted to celebrate our wedding at the stunning Bishop's Palace in Wells, Somerset on Saturday, June 27th, 2026.

Our ceremony will begin at 1:30pm in this magnificent medieval setting, surrounded by the palace's historic gardens and ancient walls. The celebration will continue throughout the day and evening with food, drinks, and festivities until 11:30pm.

We'll share more detailed timings for each part of our celebration as the date approaches.

Getting to Wells

Wells is located south of Bristol and easily accessible by train from London Paddington and from Bristol Temple Meads, then catch a public bus to Wells (approximately one hour from Bristol). Alternatively, there is a coach bus from Hammersmith, London.

Accommodation

Wells offers several hotels and numerous Airbnb options for your stay. Nearby Glastonbury provides additional accommodation choices and is renowned for its spiritual and cultural atmosphere. Glastonbury is just a 20-minute bus ride from Wells, with services running throughout the night to get back after the wedding. This trip is also bookable by taxi.

No presents please! Your presence is a sufficient gift!

Speeches

We will be instituting an "open mic" policy for speeches. Priority to the wedding party and close family, but if you want to get up and say something, you can get a slot.

Karaoke

As well as dancing, the ceremony sound system will be repurposed for karaoke in a side room for the evening.

parkrun

Matthew will be doing the Shepton Mallet parkruna> at 9am on the day of the wedding, for runners staying close by the previous night. Transport to be arranged.
